Pantry planning a paper goods drive on Sept. 14
Walpole Community Food Pantry is hosting a drive-through paper goods collection from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 14. Can you help?
That morning the pantry’s large distribution truck will be parked in the municipal lot across the street from the Walpole Police Department and the Walpole Community Center, 60 South St., Walpole. Volunteers will be on hand to accept your donations.
The bulk of the food the pantry distributes each week to families in need is sourced from the Greater Boston Food Bank, as well as donations from retail partners like Stop & Shop, Wegman’s and Costco. However, the pantry can only source paper towels and toilet paper – items families cannot purchase with SNAP benefits – either from direct community donations or by purchasing them using the nonprofit’s limited cash reserves.
You can help your neighbors in need by dropping off paper towels and/or toilet paper packs during this semi-annual drive. Donations also support residents of Neponset View Terrace and Diamond Pond Terrace, part of the Walpole Housing Authority, which provides housing services for seniors and the disabled.
If you can’t make the Sept. 14 event, paper goods donations also can be dropped off from 8-10 a.m. Tuesdays or 9-11 a.m. Thursdays at the Pantry’s warehouse.
Last year’s drive filled our large truck with paper goods.
